Being formed in 1981 by it's vocalist and guitartist, the band's music has been known by many to be one of the "big four" when it comes to the genre known as "Thrash Metal."
Although they are not without controversy or hardships, they have undeniably stood the test of time, being one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, their music continues to be produced and proformed to this day.

James Alan Hetfield (born August 3, 1963) is an American musician. He is the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, co-founder, and a primary songwriter of heavy metal band Metallica. He is mainly known for his raspy voice and intricate rhythm playing, but occasionally performs lead guitar duties and solos both live and in studio. Hetfield co-founded Metallica in October 1981 after answering an advertisement by drummer Lars Ulrich in the Los Angeles newspaper The Recycler. Metallica has won ten Grammy Awards[1] and released 11 studio albums, three live albums, four extended plays, and 24 singles. Hetfield is often regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal rhythm guitar players of all time.

Drummer

Lars Ulrich was born December 26th, 1963 is a Danish musician who is the drummer and a founding member of American heavy metal band Metallica. Along with James Hetfield, Ulrich has songwriting credits on almost all of the band's songs, and the two of them are the only remaining original members of the band.
